Mila found a cloud sitting on her windowsill. It was no bigger than a sock. “I am too small,” it said. “The big clouds water whole fields. I can only make three drops.”
Mila carried a cup beneath it. Plip. Plip. Plip. They took the water to a plant whose leaves had begun to droop. “Three drops will not fill a river,” said Mila. “But we can start here.”
The next morning, the cloud returned. Mila added water from her cup, and together they watered the plant. They did not make a forest. They made a habit.
The cloud still watched the wide sky. Someday it might drift there. Today, on the sill, there was a green leaf unfolding. It stayed to watch.
Pause & wonder
What did Mila add that the cloud could not provide? Why did the cloud return?
