Here is your beginning: “When the cupboard opened, a small voice said…” What could the voice say? Write one funny answer, one surprising answer, and one kind answer.

Now choose your favourite. Who is speaking? What do they want? Add two sentences that give the reader a clue.

Read your beginning aloud. Ask a reading partner what they want to know next. You can use their question to help write the next part.
