The sleepy punctuation marks

An original poem about the tiny signs that help words move.

Poems · Original writing

The full stop curled up at the end.
The comma rested near a friend.
The question mark stood wide awake:
“What other shape could morning take?”

The exclamation leapt up tall.
“I HEARD A FOOTSTEP IN THE HALL!”
The brackets made a quiet space

Punctuation marks help us read a sentence. Try saying “You found it.” Then try “You found it?” Your voice may change even though the words stay the same.

Try a little activity

Write one sentence with a full stop, then a question mark. Read both aloud.
