Pip found a blue button beneath a chair. It had four holes and a shiny rim. “A tiny wheel,” said Pip. “A moon,” said their sister. “A button,” said Grandad, smiling.
Pip put it on a piece of paper and drew a sign: THE BUTTON MUSEUM. Underneath, they wrote three things people had noticed. There was room for more.
By supper, the button had become a steering wheel, a biscuit for a toy bear, and a window in a paper rocket. Grandad added “something that might belong to a coat.”
Pip left the museum on the table. Tomorrow they would ask whose button it was. Tonight, one small object had filled a whole page.
